About
designorange is an award-winning New York–based practice working at the intersection of color, objects, and environments. Our work approaches color as material to explore how hue and texture shape human experience. We translate real-time color intelligence – from sidewalks to science labs to digital streams – into meaningful action.
Founder Jada Schumacher is a Professor of Color Studies and Design at the Fashion Institute of Technology. She holds an MFA in 3D Design from Cranbrook Academy of Art and a Master of Architecture from the University of Texas at Austin.
Clients include Bulgari, Nike, Estée Lauder, The Menil Collection, the Noguchi Museum, and the Government of Japan. The studio received the Silver Color Award at NeoCon in collaboration with Baresque, and the founder has been interviewed for her expertise in color by The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Time, and NPR.
Forthcoming book: Hue, Chroma, and Poison Dart Frogs: How Color Changes Everything.
